Magazine Layout

leave a comment »

This project is a continuation of the magazine cover I submitted several weeks ago. As I stated during my presentation of my magazine cover I am very passionate about community service and I choose to focus on H.A.N.D.S. a community service org on campus. The layouts purpose is to give the audience a brief bio of who HANDS is and what they do to better the Temple/North Philadelphia community.

The intended audience for this layout are Temple students and prospective members who are interested in the work that HANDS does in the community and the north Philadelphia citizens who might want to hire the org to do some community service.

I tried to keep all the columns and pictures in my layout aligned with one another so that the overall look of my layout could appear clean and polished. I think I balanced the contrast well enough with my combination of the colors red, black and white so that there is enough variety in the layout so that it doesn’t appear too boring.

Being an active member of HANDS there wasn’t alot of research I needed to complete to do this project, I just needed to find pictures from previous events that truly represented the organization and the work we do.

Nothing about this subject could raise ethical or legal questions. All material is presented in a decent and respectable manner.

Video Infographic- Antonio Boone

leave a comment »

When I first started searching for an infographic image I initially tried to find one that peaked my own personal interest. After searching I found this video on a blog full of other infographic images. The video Did You Know? 4.0 is apart of a series of videos that provide information that most of the public probably didn’t know. The most interesting thing about this video is the information it offers it’s viewers. The numerous facts portrayed in the video give anyone interested in media insight to the decline of old media and the speedy emergence of new media. Despite all the information presented in the video, the graphics in the film coincide perfectly with the facts that are presented. The graphics along with the facts entertain viewers as well as educate them. I also like how the video is a good alternative to the traditional infographic it presents the information in a different way. The design is also consistent throughout the video most of the important key facts are on what appear to be newspaper or magazine clippings. All in all the video is pretty cool.

A Week in the life of me…..

leave a comment »

I went to my first State of the Union watch party in Olde City.

At my weekly E-Board meeting with my favorite organization TABJ.

Dinner at a Time Lounge on 13th and Samson.....The food was really good. I was too busy eating to take a picture.

Temple Basketball game. My second favorite on-campus organization H.A.N.D.S. (Having Ambition N' Devotion for Service) took a group of kids to their first game.

Taking time off of doing absolutely nothing at work to get a snapshot of my name tag.

Had to go here and get a background check for my High School Journalism Workshop class.

The inside of the school district building. It was pretty nice.

The Inquirer Building, home to the Philadelphia Inquirer

Had to grab a couple papers while I was headed to Center City.

One of my favorite Mural's in Philly

About to hop on the Orange Line back to Temple and to another long week.

About to hop back on the Sub back to Temple and to another long week.

My name is Antonio Boone. I’m sophomore magazine journalism major here at Temple but I’m from Baltimore,MD. In addition to the mountain of school work that I have to complete I am on the executive board for two organizations: TABJ(Temple Association of Black Journalists) and H.A.N.D.S (Having Ambition N’ Devotion for Service). I tend to stay very busy on campus but I love every second of networking with professional journalists  and strengthening the Temple/North Philadelphia community through service. After graduating from Temple I hope to have a job working as a journalists in New York City or Philadelphia but my dream job would be working at Vibe Magazine.
